American Marines donate baseball equipment to Tiassalé American Corner
On December 2, the American Corner in Tiassalé was the site of a unique and memorable donation of sports equipment. An American Embassy Abidjan team, headed by the Public Affairs Officer, David Andresen, and U.S. Marine Gunnery Sergeant, Samuel Riosminera, traveled to Tiassalé to donate softball and baseball equipment, as well as soccer balls and Frisbees to members of the American Corner.
For the first time, American Corner members were introduced to the game of softball. The marines also held an exhibition game, and helped to pull together some pick-up softball games and organize Frisbee teams. The donation of equipment was a follow-up to an earlier visit to the American Corner in Tiassalé in June by the embassy's marines. The ceremony offered the marines an opportunity to share their time and their enthusiasm for America's most popular and beloved game.
