• NEC site dedicated by Ambassador Render on January 19, 2002
• First concrete pour November 11, 2002

Project Info

• NEC was designed by CMSS Architects (Washington DC area) and HOK Architects/Engineers.
• General contractor is American construction company J.A. Jones International, LLC (a Fluor company) in partnership with Sibagec, a local company.
• Local labor used for construction, averaging 700 local employees per day.

Materials

• 10,000 square meters of stone are used for the project, 8,000 of which are on the Chancery.  The stone was sourced from Brazil and Spain
• Cobblestone walkways were fabricated on site with hand cut stones from Ghana, which arrive overland via truck.
• Concrete was manufactured onsite daily during peak construction periods
