Former US Diplomat Speaks on Economic Development and Gender Issues
A former U.S. Ambassador to the African Development Bank presented a series of outreach programs in Abidjan April 17-18 with Ivorian financial and civic leaders. In two formal sessions with members of the banking and financial communities, Mrs. Alice Dear discussed “The Role of the Financial Sector in Economic Development of Emerging Nations” and “Banking and Finance for Emerging Nations in the 21st Century.” Her presentations gave participants valuable information on development funding possibilities for post-crisis Cote d’Ivoire.
Ambassador Dear also led two programs with NGO leaders – a conference with the Coalition of Women Leaders on “Gender Relationships in Emerging Nations,” and a round table with the Bénévolat-USA/CI network on: “The Role of NGOs and Volunteers in Development.”
