Ambassador Carter Hosts Iftar Dinner
Ambassador Phillip Carter III called on Ivorians to continue to build a “compassionate and tolerant society” as he hosted the Embassy’s Iftar dinner on August 7. The annual dinner brings together Embassy diplomats and Muslim leaders from a variety of professions to celebrate their shared commitment to mutual understanding. This year’s dinner, held in the Embassy Atrium, was attended by 50 religious leaders, business and media professionals and educators from Côte d’Ivoire’s Muslim community.
In his remarks, El Hadj Cheick Boikary Fofana, president of the Ivorian High Council of Imams and vice-president of the national Dialogue, Truth and Reconciliation Commission emphasized the importance of accepting Ivorians of all religious, national and ethnic backgrounds to support the reconciliation process in Cote d'Ivoire.
