Ivorian Student Union Activists Train Together on Conflict Resolution

On March 14, the American Cultural Center in Abidjan hosted a day-long workshop for 20 activists from different Ivorian student unions. The workshop’s focus was on the subject of conflict resolution.

The union activists discussed as a group (and role-played out as individuals) a number of different strategies to negotiating, examined ways to limit or stop evolving conflicts, and examined the power of language and use of words that can reduce, avoid or inflame disputes or conflicts.

At the end of the day, the student/participants judged the training valuable and applicable to their immediate situation, and recommended follow-up group sessions to work toward a compact establishing inter-union harmony.
