Political/Economic Section
The Embassy's combined Political/Economic Section advises and assists the Ambassador in communicating between the governments of the United States and Côte d'Ivoire on political and economic issues. The section also analyzes political and economic developments in Côte d'Ivoire and implements programs in these areas on behalf of the U.S. Departments of State, Treasury, Agriculture, and Commerce, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in Washington.
Political Officers are responsible for :

Promoting democracy, rule of law and respect for human rights in Côte d'Ivoire.

Enhancing cooperation with the Ivoirian government on bilateral political issues and on multilateral political issues of mutual interest.

Observing and analyzing political developments in Côte d'Ivoire.

Monitoring refugee populations in West Africa as well as U.S. refugee assistance programs in the region.
Economic Officers are responsible for :

Promoting and open trade and a healthy investment environment in Côte d'Ivoire.

Assisting U.S. companies seeking to do business in Côte d'Ivoire.

Observing and analyzing economic developments in Côte d'Ivoire.

Enhancing U.S.-Ivoirian economic, commercial, and environmental ties; and promoting cooperation on multilateral economic issues of mutual interest.
