Teachers and Librarians of San Pedro Trained in Quality Education and Capacity Building
From May 7 to 8, the Director of the Information Resources Centre, Marie-Laure Angoran, led workshops in San Pedro whose objective was to improving the quality of education and information sharing.
The first workshop, attended by 25 participants, focused on how to manage a high school’s library and operate an effective Information Center. The second program brought together about 100 secondary school teachers to discuss “Elements of Teaching”. This presentation focused on the intellectual, character and emotional skills that the best teachers must possess. Areas covered included use of authority, professional ethics, classroom order, and those skills that separate the best of teachers from others -- imagination, compassion, patience, character, and a sense of good fun.
To help teachers and librarians better share their experiences, a network of librarians was created. The network will organize follow up activities to provide progress reports on the impact of the workshop on the participants’ classroom and library performance.
