US Embassy Hosts Seminar on Youth Entrepreneurship
The Embassy of the United States in Abidjan hosts a two week-long training on Youth Entrepreneurship. The training, which started on April 10, is being organized in partnership with the UNDP, is provide participants – including trainers in entrepreneurship and junior entrepreneurs – with tips and skills to set up and succeed a business. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in interactive simulations that allowed them to analyze why businesses fail, but also how they succeed.
The training is due to end on April 20, and is conducted by Mrs. Yamilee Bastien, a French-speaking American small business specialist. Mrs. Yamilee, who was in Abidjan last December for a week-long program, led an American-style workshop that focused not only on participants receiving information but also on their putting it to good use.
The December’s sessions also covered an impressive array of practical topics: feasibility studies, business creation and development, marketing strategies, balancing a checkbook, maintaining a sales log, pricing, establishing a clientele, and more.
